When I was a kid, I loved ghost stories, but only the ones that were allegedly true. I spent hours poring over books from the local libraries or listening to recordings of the tales shared around the campfire of the Boy Scout camp. When Beauty and the Beast came out and and I watched as Belle was gifted the castle library, I wanted that too – but I wanted my library to be nothing but ghost stories. When the internet took off, my dream shifted slightly – I still wanted the library, but I also wanted a digital catalog of each book along with a comprehensive index and summaries.
I started collecting my library as a teenager, and as of November 2024 have over 600 unique titles of ghost stories alone (not to mention the books on witchcraft, death and mourning rituals, and other occult-adjacent subjects); the collection now also includes back issues of FATE magazine dating back to the 1950s.
A comprehensive catalog of the detail I want will require a Powerball win and a small army of archivists, but the current catalog listing is here (last update 2024-11-20):
