The Narrator

Broke camp early and we were on the road by 8:45. I’d spotted the post office for Marine-on-St.-Croix the night before on the way back from Stillwater, so we made a brief stop so I could mail a few more postcards. The postmistress had the most incredibly sweet Minnesotan accent, and I felt bad that we couldn’t spend more time there. What a fantastic state!

Gassed up, we started off for our next destination: Green Bay, Wisconsin. There’s not much to say about that part of the drive, as it was just long and full of cornfields. Pretty, but not much to write about.

We reached Green Bay just before two and made our way over to Lambeau Field so Scott could pay his sports homage. We had just missed the tour (and didn’t have time to wait an hour and a half for the next one), so we picked up a few souvenirs from the team shop (yes, I finally bought an official Cheesehead hat) and hit the road again en route to Milwaukee. One final highlight of Green Bay: their minor league hockey team is the Gamblers. We laughed like hell about that. Not sure if they are in the same league as the Lake Erie Monsters, but if so, I know what game I want tickets for next season. [UPDATE: I checked after we got home, and sadly, they are not in the same league. The Gamblers play in the USHL, where the Monsters are in the AHL.]

We took I-43 down the coast of Lake Michigan. Fun drive, we passed a bunch of very Midwestern roadside attractions and even found Waldo! We made it to our hotel about 5:30. The pool never felt so good as it did after that drive! We have another long day of driving tomorrow, so we ordered in (the most excruciating conversation trying to order from Dominos EVER, but the food itself was excellent). Very tired.
