This morning we woke up to thunder peals in the distance: soon, our tent would receive its first test of endurance. We couldn’t shower but we did get our morning routines in otherwise, and I brought what little remaining camp items in under the canopy before the rains started (there wasn’t much to do there, as I brought most of it in last night and just needed to move the canvas camp chairs and a few little sundries). Scott was back and we were both dressed before the rains started, so we sat in the super tent and opened up some of the window flaps so we could get the breeze and watch the proceedings. It was gentle for a while, but then the storm started to pick up and there was a massive downpour. We had to shout over the pounding of the rain, but the tent held its ground. I’m glad we went and tacked ALL of the stakes in tight yesterday, because the only water that got in was when a couple of huge gusts hit our western side (the back of the tent and only side without any windows) and blew the wall down a little bit so that a little bit of rain that was blowing sideways came in under the rain flap. Fortunately even that was minimal, and I know that if we hadn’t tacked down all the ropes tightly the tent might have come down with those gusts.
After the storm, we set off to Minneapolis to visit the Mall of America. Pretty cool place! It really is just a giant mall, but we had fun walking around and visiting some of the less well-known stores.

Picked up a little something for Seestor at the Peep store and stopped by the LEGO store as well – they had some really cool display models, but otherwise not as impressive as I’d hoped. Still, overall we had a great time.
We spent a few hours walking around the mall, then ventured a little farther west to Eden Prairie to see if we could locate where they used to film Mystery Science Theatre 3000. Despite numerous searches, we couldn’t find an address and were going off of rumors that the location was in what is now a mall, so we went to the Eden Prairie Mall in hopes of maybe finding info or a store, but to no avail. We tried.
