GE TURNTABLE MICROWAVE, age ~31, Jen’s Kitchen, passed away last evening from minor sparking after a lengthy decline.
Purchased in 1981 by Bob and Ellen Schreiber, Microwave was known primarily for its flashy 1980s wood-panel-look exterior and for its work in quickly reheating cups of coffee and in crisping bacon. It was retired for a short time in the late 1990s during the Great Appliance Upgrade, but was pressed back into service in 2002 when Jen started college. Moving to Cleveland in early 2007 following Jen’s graduation, Microwave continued to serve the family faithfully over the past six years, popping countless bags of popcorn and warming gravy for family meals.
It was preceded in death by two deep fryers, Fry Daddy Mini and the inappropriately named Presto Cool Touch; one deep dish pie plate, Paula Dean Stoneware 10-inch; one electric hand mixer; and several drinking glasses.
Services for Microwave will be held privately on Saturday. Burial will take place Saturday afternoon in the Back Parking Lot Dumpster.
